Biodynamic Ingredients.
Shire Farm is their own Demeter certified biodynamic farm in the heart of Lincolnshire, United Kingdom, where some of their ingredients are grown.Biodynamics means a holistic approach to nature and farming – vital to ensure a system that does not stress land, animals or plants. This system of crop production uses home produced animal manures to feed the soil without pesticides and harmful chemicals. Animals living on the farm enjoy a stress-free and cared for existence without drugs or hormone preparations. Crops are healthy, strong and full of goodness. These incredible plants ensure that nature’s goodness is harnessed in their products. Your skincare products are produced with such love and attention without any harmful additives. Knowing this can only be good for the spirit! This is why, at AEOS, they like to say “from Soil to Soul”.
Liquid Energies & Colour in AEOS
The AEOS skincare range benefits from spagyric tinctures. These are liquid gems and crystals specially prepared according to a secret, ancient alchemic process. They are uniquely potent and energising ingredients in their products. They, like so many others today, believe that crystals and gems contain their own special mineral energies, which in turn can have a direct effect upon the human energy field. This unique approach to skincare truly sets AEOS apart as a leader in its field.
Colour is a significant factor in their skincare range. Colour affects our moods and our energy. Wear it and see! Choose pink to awaken your senses with a beautiful rose geranium, grapefruit and lavender scent enhanced with the crystal essences of fire opal, rose quartz and rubelite. Their blue products combat stress with the calming effect of chamomile, sweet orange and lemon myrtle and sooth with amethyst, turquoise and emerald mineral energies.
Shire Farm
Today we are increasingly aware that the quality of substances and energies we take in – whether through food and water, personal care products have a tremendous impact upon our well-being.
At Shire Farm they passionately care about what they plant and grow so that the crops grown on their farm can nourish and sustain us on all levels. There are now around 500 acres of lovingly maintained farmland in Lincolnshire, UK, where many of the plants and herbs are grown using biodynamic methods for the AEOS skincare and cosmetic range.
Our first 50 acres of farmland in 1995 at Tetford, UK were the fulfillment of the life long dream of their chairman, Mike Booth to bring the benefits of biodynamic farming to a wider public.
Biodynamic farming excludes the use of artificial fertilizers or pesticides and relies on the natural interdependence between the soil itself and all the diverse elements of plant and animal life. They have cultivated calendula, clary sage, melissa, lavender and roses within rotations of grass, clover and grains. Another 439 acres just outside the village of Hagworthingham were added. They immediately set out to convert and enrich the land which had been depleted by conventional modern farming.
The three-year conversion process of Shire Farm was closely monitored by Demeter, a worldwide biodynamic governing agency. As with their first acreage, this involved resting the land within the rotations of planting to regenerate nutritive life and activity in the soil. Deep-rooted grass and red clover were planted to break up the substructure and give nitrogen back to the soil. Sunflowers, poppies and clary sage helped greatly in the healing of the land. These together with spelt wheat, barley and beans formed our rotation of crops. The composting of manure from the herd of Dexter cattle and other organic waste material – plus the use of fermented herbal and mineral preparations as compost additives and field sprays – puts more back into the soil than the growing crops take from the earth. This has played a large part in achieving the full Demeter certification. The southern boundary of the land borders a large Nature Reserve operated in an organic manner. This complements their planting of trees and hedgerows which encourage more birds and wildlife also to find a home on Shire Farm. They attend to the health of their bee colonies which are so vital for pollination of the plants. These all contribute to bio-diversity which helps to minimize pests and disease, their bees to swarm and their bee colonies to grow year by year.
